Customised end-to-end solution for the corporate sector

A leading government agency in Europe approached Quick Sort with a challenging project, for which a number of other BPOs were not equipped to give end-to-end solution. The client had to manage a huge volume of meteorological data of all the provinces of the entire nation. Although their current system has been handling all relevant data, the client does not have records of their previous 100 years’ data of all the provinces, in an electronic format. These data are very critical and are required on a regular basis to compare the changes in the region’s climatic conditions, as also for the purpose of scientific research. Since most of the data for the previous years were available only in a paper format, the client had to undergo hardships and incur high costs in the storage, retrieval and maintenance of this information.

The client wanted Quick Sort to convert all the data in paper format into electronic format; create a database to retrieve and manage the information pertaining to the last 100 years; recreate the data in any format like doc, pdf, html, etc.; provide access facilities to staff and the general public to view these data.

Quick Sort professionals faced numerous challenges during implementation of the project. The core process not only included digitization of the image data but also having to mine the unclassified data to understand the patterns in the data in order to arrive at the optimized number of classifications. The job study after work resulted in several combinations of data. There were over 400 classified types of data in TIFF format which were required to be transformed into different formats. Programs, written after creating validation rules, were needed to check data consistency. The population programs were required for 150 main types and its many more sub-types that needed only specific data to be extracted from the XLS format and populated into the database. Data loaders had to be created to extract specific data from various classified data; in turn, every data type was required to be considered as independent data set to populate into the structured database based on their relationship with other data. The approach had been challenging because of the fact that there were several data sets of various years to be populated, which resulted in a complex database with centralized repository to be maintained. Also required to be done was to develop user interface to enable access and browsing of the information from end-user perspective. The end-user can query and search targeted data including download facility.

This project required not only very high-skilled project management techniques but also high-skilled professionals to deal with complex database along with very good understanding of the activities of the meteorological department. The fact that having outstanding proprietary technological processes in executing projects like this within our firm helped us achieve our client’s requirements in terms of quality and quick turnaround time. The entire process underwent a thorough quality check to ensure zero-error. The efforts and the resulting output from us were highly appreciated by our client.
