Quick Solutions for an STM Publisher

A leading STM publisher asked Quick Sort to create a subsequent reprint version of its prestigious project. The whole project needed to be completed within a month from the commencement of job study until the final version. All the more, the publisher had a pre-committed time deadline with the printer as marketing activities in this connection had already begun. The client had given us the softcopy of the previous version and requested us to modify a few chapters to arrive at a subsequent new version of the same. After Quick Sort ’s dedicated job study, our work-team came up with the fact that the softcopies supplied by the client were corrupted and hence requested the client to supply the data for processing. We understood from the client that they had only the version of the one that was given to us and so wanted us to work on the project right from scratch, with the same hardcopy version.

The information of the files being corrupted and the entire work having got to start from the very beginning came as a big shock to the publisher, who almost gave up all hopes of this project getting through on schedule. But Quick Sort had different plans. From the printed material, Quick Sort adopted a double-entry keying and comparison process; two different people typed the material, and then a third resolved discrepancies between the typed versions by referring to the original printed copy. The whole keying/comparison process was controlled by our proprietary software and followed by full proofreading to ensure accuracy levels of 99.995%. Copyediting for the newly added chapters was concurrently executed along with the images that were scanned and redrawn from the original book, and then typesetting was done exactly to match the previous edition format, and the project was completed well before the scheduled time. The publisher then not only had big words of appreciation for Quick Sort, but also recommended our name to various other reputed publishers.

End-to-end solutions for a Medical Publisher
Thanks to good communication, one of the largest publishers of Medical books and journals in the land got introduced to Quick Sort about a year back. When the first batch of journal articles came to us for copyediting from this publisher, we were both surprised and puzzled at the bad shape in which the manuscripts were presented. The writing was all technically complex; and to add to the complexity was the sub standard language used, further compounded by all-round inconsistencies in words and styles. Even the pdf samples sent to us as live examples were in equally bad shape. On being alerted by us immediately regarding these basic deficiencies, the publisher was at a loss as to what needed to be done; and after a round of assessment at their end, got back to us asking if we could show them the way.

Faced with an enormous task of setting right everything in the manuscript in a short turnaround time, the editorial team of Quick Sort did the right planning and began with the designing of a style sheet. Once that was ready in a day, the editorial experts went about their task of setting right the language and other aspects of the manuscript with amazing speed and precision.

With both copyediting and typesetting teams simultaneously at work, one to look at the editorial points and the other to study the pagination aspects of these journals, style sheets and templates were readied for the publisher’s 50-odd journals within a month. The publisher appreciated our sincerest efforts in this regard, and from then on has begun their long and fruitful business association with Quick Sort.
